Softball Game Preview: West Side Eagles vs. Mt. Vernon-Enola Warhawks

The West Side Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Mt. Vernon-Enola Warhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (West Side has four straight victories, Mt. Vernon-Enola has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

If West Side beats Mt. Vernon-Enola with seven runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Eagles walked away with a 7-3 win over Rose Bud on Friday.

Lilly Stevens was incredible, going 1-for-2 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Kately Cornett, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon-Enola came up short against Bradley last Friday and fell 10-6.

West Side's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Mt. Vernon-Enola, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

West Side came out on top in a nail-biter against Mt. Vernon-Enola in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, sneaking past 9-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
