Basketball Recap: Bensalem Comes Up Short

Bensalem was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-57 heartbreaker at the hands of the William Tennent Panthers. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Fighting Owls came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while the Panthers are ranked 404th).

Despite the loss, Bensalem still got an impressive performance from Amir Drummond, who posted 27 points along with seven boards and three steals. Trevor Morris was another key player, putting up nine points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Bensalem smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Bensalem's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for William Tennent, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.

Bensalem wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 57-54 win against Cheltenham on the 18th. As for William Tennent, they will be playing at home against Upper Moreland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Upper Moreland's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
