Baseball Recap: Kearsley Triumphs

Kearsley let Imlay City stack four runs on them in the sixth inning on Tuesday but luckily Kearsley prevailed anyway. The Hornets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Spartans. For the Hornets, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 win the Spartans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2021.

Chase Tobias made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Kearsley is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-9 otherwise. Tobias was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kearsley let Aiden Tipton and Keegan Roesner run wild. Tipton went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Roesner went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Kearsley is undefeated when Roesner posts two or more runs, but 8-11 otherwise.

The victory got Kearsley back to even at 11-11. As for Imlay City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14-1 record this season.

Kearsley will square off against Goodrich at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Martians' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Imlay City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
