Basketball Recap: Alijah Turner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead New Castle over Northeastern

New Castle fought the good fight in their overtime match against Northeastern on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Northeastern Knights 57-51. The Trojans' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it seven in a row.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alijah Turner, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Miller, who posted 12 points.

Northeastern's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaleb Moore, who put up eight points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Those six boards gave Moore a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sam White, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 12 points and eight rebounds.

New Castle's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Northeastern, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0.

New Castle didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-35 win against Mississinewa on the 4th. As for Northeastern, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 77-45 victory against Victory College Prep on the 4th.
