Basketball Game Preview: Simla Cubs vs. Loveland Classical Lions

The Simla Cubs will face off against the Loveland Classical Lions at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Simla is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

Last Friday, Simla took their match with ease, bagging a 61-20 win over Calhan. The Cubs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 30 points or more this season.

Simla's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Haylee Easler, who shot 64% from the field on her way to 16 points and three steals, and Carlee Cox, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 13 points in addition to eight steals and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Easler a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Anna Kerst, who posted nine points and six boards.

Simla was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calhan only five assists.

Meanwhile, Loveland Classical was able to grind out a solid victory over Golden View Classical Academy last Tuesday, taking the game 47-38. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Sentinels: they've now won six in a row.

Simla better keep an eye on Kaelyn Doan. She was instrumental in Loveland Classical's win, almost dropping a double-double with 29 points and nine steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Doan has scored at least a third of Loveland Classical's points. Keira Doan was another key player, putting up four points and ten steals.

Loveland Classical's victory bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Simla, their win bumped their record up to 17-5.
