Matoaca has gone 7-2 against Meadowbrook recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Warriors will look to defend their home field against the Monarchs at 7:00 p.m.

On Thursday, Matoaca was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 26-20 to Hopewell.

Matoaca's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaelen Penson, who rushed for 51 yards and three scores, and Trevion Mills, who rushed for 96 yards.

Meanwhile, after only eight points in their last game, Meadowbrook made sure to put some points up on the board against Colonial Heights on Thursday. The Monarchs put the hurt on the Colonials with a sharp 32-8 victory. The Monarchs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 24 points or more this season.

A big part of Meadowbrook's win came down to the chemistry between Dashaun Chisem and his top target Dashod Singleton. Chisem threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes while Singleton gained 103 total yards and two touchdowns. What's more, Singleton racked up 102 receiving yards, the most he's had since back in September of 2024.

One reason for the win was Meadowbrook's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 6.5 sacks. In that department, Kevin Brown was the leader with two. He is becoming a predictor of Meadowbrook's success: when he posts at least one sack the team is 5-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). The Monarchs got some further help from Ricari Enoch-Bailey: he picked up a sack and made 15 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Meadowbrook's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Matoaca, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
