Softball Recap: Reed Wins High-Profile Match Against Douglas

Reed faced Douglas in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Reed came out on top against Douglas by a score of 8-3. The victory was familiar territory for the Raiders, who have now won four matches in a row.

Kehaulani Tambaoan made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

Tambaoan wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lilliana Cervantes-Overbay, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Cervantes-Overbay a new career-high.

Reed's record is now 9-3-2. As for Douglas, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-4.

Reed's road trip will continue as they head out to face Woodcreek at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Reed will need to watch out since Woodcreek has now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Douglas, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Douglas Tigers take on Spanish Springs Cougars at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
