Softball Recap: Assumption Wins High-Profile Game Against Oldham County

Assumption faced Oldham County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Rockets skirted past the Colonels 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rockets have posted since April 19th.

Lauren Satterly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaelynn Oaks, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maleya Giddens, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Assumption pushed their record up to 27-9 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Oldham County, they moved to 29-7 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Assumption nor the Colonels have any future games scheduled.
