It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Newton had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They skirted past the Robinson Maroons 4-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-2 two weeks ago.

Hayden Mulvey looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dexter Fulton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Quincy Fulton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Newton and bumps their season record up to 17-14. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Robinson, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-12.

As of now, neither Newton nor the Maroons have any future games scheduled.
