Basketball Recap: Bridgeport Skates Past Bayard with Ease

Bridgeport won the last time they faced Bayard and things went their way on Saturday too. The Bridgeport Bulldogs breezed by the Bayard Tigers to the tune of 60-20. The team ran away with 49 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.

Bridgeport was led to victory by Hayes Watts and Gage Nein. Watts went 5 of 7 on his way to 15 points and five assists, while Nein went 7 for 9 en route to 17 points. That's the most assists Watts has posted since back in January of 2024. Cody Bates also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

When it comes to explaining why Bayard lost, don't look at Marcus Trevino. Despite the final result, he posted seven points.

Bridgeport is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Bayard, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.

Bridgeport will have a chance to go back-to-back against Bayard: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
