Basketball Game Preview: Merryville Panthers vs. Midland Rebels

The Merryville Panthers will take on the Midland Rebels on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Merryville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They took down East Beauregard 57-40.

Meanwhile, Midland entered their tilt with West St. Mary on Monday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Wolfpack 60-26. Given the Rebels' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 189th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Midland's win bumped their record up to 27-11. As for Merryville, their victory bumped their record up to 20-8.

Merryville skirted past Midland 54-51 when the teams last played back in December of 2019. Does Merryville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Midland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
