Basketball Game Preview: Plattsmouth Blue Devils vs. Nebraska City Pioneers

Plattsmouth and Nebraska City are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Plattsmouth Blue Devils will welcome the Nebraska City Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Plattsmouth is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season.

Plattsmouth will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Blair, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Plattsmouth secured a 43-39 W over Blair on Thursday. The win almost wasn't to be: the Blue Devils were down 27-13 in the second quarter.

Plattsmouth's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jolie Dix, who posted 15 points and three steals. Dix is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Averi Winters, who earned 17 points.

Meanwhile, Nebraska City was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 24-18 to Wahoo. The matchup marked the Pioneers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Nebraska City's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-6. As for Plattsmouth, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-3.

Everything came up roses for Plattsmouth against Nebraska City when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 67-34 victory. In that game, Plattsmouth amassed a halftime lead of 34-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
