Volleyball Preview: Columbian Tornadoes vs. Calvert Senecas

Columbian is 0-4 against Calvert since October of 2018 but things could change on Monday. The Columbian Tornadoes will be staying on the road to face off against the Calvert Senecas at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, Columbian beat Ashland 3-1.

In the three sets Columbian was on fire: they won each by at least 13 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-12, 28-30, 25-10.

Meanwhile, Calvert put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Gibsonburg 3-0.

The final score came out to 25-11, 25-17, 25-6.

Calvert can attribute much of their success to Scarlett Faber, who had seven digs and two aces. That's the most aces Faber has posted in she last six contests.

Calvert was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 42 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Columbian's record is now 9-3. As for Calvert, their win was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0.

Columbian might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Calvert in their previous matchup back in September of 2023. Can Columbian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
