Softball Recap: Franklin County Drops Highest Score of Season Against Fleming

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Franklin County). They were the clear victors by a 20-1 margin over the Fleming Colonels on Monday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Brooke Weaver made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Becca Merrick, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kamari Holland, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Franklin County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .811. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Franklin County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Fleming, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.
