Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Franklin County). They were the clear victors by a 20-1 margin over the Fleming Colonels on Monday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by seven runs or more this season.
Brooke Weaver made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Becca Merrick, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kamari Holland, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Franklin County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .811. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
