Softball Recap: Desert Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After soaring to 11 runs the game before, Desert was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bishop Union Broncos. The Scorpions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Broncos earlier this season, when they won 8-7.

Alayna Phillips spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Desert saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Escobar, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Desert's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8. As for Bishop Union, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-7.

Looking ahead, Desert will face off against Rosamond at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Scorpions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Roadrunners have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season. As for Bishop Union, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 7-5 win against California City on the 9th.
