Softball Recap: Laurens Academy Gets the Win

It's playoff time, and Laurens Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 14-9 win over the Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Crusaders considering their one-run performance the match before.

The team relied heavily on Mackenzie Runyans, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four doubles, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Abercrombie, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Laurens Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Laurens Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Laurens Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-6 defeat against Lee Academy on the 10th. Andrew Jackson Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
