Baseball Recap: Notre Dame's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Notre Dame brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They never let the Lincoln Leadership Academy Lions get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Spartans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Aidan Acosta made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.

In other batting news, Notre Dame got a big performance out of Daniel Bordas, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Bordas is becoming a predictor of the Spartans' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 0-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Lucas Vega, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Notre Dame picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-7. As for Lincoln Leadership Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Notre Dame will head out to take on Pen Argyl at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Green Knights have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Lincoln Leadership Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Upper Bucks Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
