Volleyball Recap: Columbus Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Columbus waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Coral Gables Cavaliers by a score of 2-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Explorers also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2025.

Columbus never let Coral Gables on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-22.

Columbus' offense was headlined by Lucas Riva and Cole Crep, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Charlie Friguls and his 22 assists. Finally, Sebastian Ruiz kept Columbus' defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Despite the loss, Coral Gables still got an impressive performance from William Hardie, who had 16 digs and two assists. Hardie has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last three times he's played.

Columbus' victory bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Coral Gables, their loss ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5.

Columbus wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Varela on the 9th. As for Coral Gables, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Royal Palm Beach on the 10th.
