Basketball Game Preview: Eastern Tech Mavericks vs. Carver A&T Wildcats

The Eastern Tech Mavericks will take on the Carver A&T Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Eastern Tech knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Carver A&T likes a good challenge.

Eastern Tech is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past GVCS Broadfording 85-60 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Mavericks have posted since January 12th.

Eastern Tech's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jericho Wondeye led the charge by going 8 of 14 on his way to 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Foley, who went 8 for 20 on his way to 21 points and eight steals.

Eastern Tech was working as a unit and finished the game with 29 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Carver A&T was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by Kenwood 74-20.

Carver A&T's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Eastern Tech, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Eastern Tech strolled past Carver A&T when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 65-46. Does Eastern Tech have another victory up their sleeve, or will Carver A&T turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
