Baseball Recap: Central Sets Scoring Season-High Against Hoover

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central). They were the clear victors by a 19-6 margin over the Hoover Cardinals on Saturday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Spartans with their most commanding win of the season.

The team relied heavily on Angel Carrillo, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hury Luna, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5.

Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hoover only posted an OBP of .382.

Central moved to 8-8 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Hoover, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will venture away from home to square off against Calexico at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hoover, they are taking a road trip to take on High Tech SD at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Storm have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
