Preview: Lake George Lakers vs. Fort Ann Cardinals
The Lake George Lakers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Fort Ann Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lake George focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.
Lake George scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They put the hurt on Hartford Central with a sharp 66-40 victory. With that win, Lake George brought their scoring average up to 50.7 points per game.
Among those leading the charge was Darnell Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelo Bergman, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Fort Ann's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 66-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Doane Stuart.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Alejandro Stowhas, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Garrett Brown, who scored 13 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Fort Ann were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Lake George's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Fort Ann, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Lake George hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 50.7 points per game. It's a different story for Fort Ann, though, as they've been averaging only 32.4 points per game. The only thing between Lake George and another offensive beatdown is Fort Ann. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Lake George was able to grind out a solid victory over Fort Ann in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 46-38. Does Lake George have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fort Ann turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
