Basketball Game Preview: Calvary Baptist Academy Kings vs. Coleman Comets

The Calvary Baptist Academy Kings will square off against the Coleman Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Calvary Baptist Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy with a sharp 54-30 win. The Kings haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Calvary Baptist Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Braydon Schwartzkopf, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Brayden Daniels, who went 8-for-11 en route to 21 points. What's more, Schwartzkopf posted five blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gauge Roy, who went 6-for-13 on his way to 13 points and five boards.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Coleman over St. Charles in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Coleman blew past St. Charles 57-37.

Calvary Baptist Academy better keep an eye on Logan Glazier. He was instrumental in Coleman's win, dropping a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Glazier has scored at least a third of Coleman's points. Another player making a difference was Jared DeVrieze, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards.

Coleman's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points over those games. As for Calvary Baptist Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-16.

Calvary Baptist Academy came up short against Coleman in their previous meeting back in January, falling 54-43. Can Calvary Baptist Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
