Three-star linebacker DeCalon Brooks of Gaither (Tampa, Fla.) has decided to follow in his father's footsteps.

The son of former Florida State all-American and NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Derrick Brooks announced his pledge to FSU Thursday night via Twitter.

The nation's 51st-rated inside linebacker in the 2017 class racked up a team-high 114 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and five sacks last season. Brooks plays the same position that his father once dominated and inherited his aggressive and instinctual style of play.

The 5-foot-11, 197-pound force also became the 13th commit in FSU's 2017 recruiting class, according to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports.
