Basketball Recap: Seton Catholic Central Gets the Win

If Lake Placid wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Seton Catholic Central, they should've done a better job of containing Michael Mannix. The Seton Catholic Central Knights enjoyed a cozy 63-47 win over the Lake Placid Bombers on Friday thanks in part to Mannix, who went 7 for 13 from beyond the arc on his way to 44 points. The matchup was his seventh in a row with at least ten points.

Oliver Hughes was another key player, going 5 of 11 en route to 12 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. Those seven boards gave him a new career-high.

When it comes to explaining why Lake Placid lost, don't look at Seb Cecunjanin. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Cecunjanin is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Hayes, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 12 points.

Seton Catholic Central's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Lake Placid, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Seton Catholic Central will venture away from home to face off against Warrensburg at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Lake Placid, they will welcome Wells at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Wells is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.1 points per game this season.
