Basketball Recap: Kit Carson Drops Season-High Score on Eads

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kit Carson). In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 61-60 victory over the Eads Eagles. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 67-44 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Kit Carson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brennan Framel, who posted 11 points along with eight boards and six assists. Framel continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Josiah Irwin, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.

Framel wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Kit Carson was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. Kit Carson is 7-3 when they've passed the ball that well.

Despite the loss, Eads still got an impressive performance from Case Nelson, who went 9-for-21 en route to 26 points in addition to seven steals and five boards. What's more, Nelson posted two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Anthony Paez was another key player, putting up six points.

Kit Carson's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 8-11. As for Eads, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.

Kit Carson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-30 victory against Bethune on the 22nd. As for Eads, they will take on Holly at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Holly is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.8 points per game this season.
