Basketball Preview: Providence-St. Mel Knights vs. Montini Catholic Broncos
Providence-St. Mel is on a four-game streak of home losses, the Broncos a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Providence-St. Mel Knights will take on the Montini Catholic Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Providence-St. Mel pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 75-57 bruising from St. Francis de Sales.
Despite the loss, Providence-St. Mel got a solid performance out of Kenneth Miller, who scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season. Robert Hughes Jr. was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Montini Catholic came up short against the Knights on Friday and fell 42-35.
Providence-St. Mel has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for Montini Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-18.
Providence-St. Mel came up short against the Broncos when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 63-57. Can Providence-St. Mel avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
