Softball Recap: Atchison Beats Washington for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Atchison won the last time they faced Washington and things went their way on Thursday too. The Phoenix blew past the Wildcats 19-2. The result was nothing new for the Phoenix, who have now won six matches by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Kirrah Duncan made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Duncan was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Jadyn Boldridge was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Andi Estes, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.

Atchison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington only posted an OBP of .385.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Atchison, bringing their record up to 8-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Washington, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Atchison will venture away from home to take on Tonganoxie at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Washington, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Sumner Academy at 4:00 p.m. on May 5.
