Recap: Winside Wildcats vs. Wausa Vikings

The Winside Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their 15th straight defeat. They fell 37-28 to Wausa. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Winside of the 46-28 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture two weeks ago.

Despite the loss, Winside saw an underclassman step up: Ellie Topp dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Topp hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games.

Wausa's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taylor Dawson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sienna West, who scored 12 points along with three steals.

Winside dropped their record down to 1-18 with that loss, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Wausa, their win bumped their record up to 5-16.

Winside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wausa, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Wynot at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. Wynot will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Wausa surely won't give up without a fight.
