Baseball Recap: Maysville Comes Up Short

Maysville had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-7 to make it four. They came up short against the Philo Electrics, falling 10-1. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Maysville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was TREVOR HAGUE, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. SLADE SHREVE was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Philo, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7. That looming 10-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

On Philo's side, Landon Foster tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over 6.2 innings pitched.

At the plate, Philo let Garrett Tom and Ky-Mani Philip run wild. Tom went 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles, while Philip went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Tom a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Gooden, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maysville will host West Muskingum at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Philo, they will welcome Cambridge at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
