Basketball Game Preview: Centralia Orphans vs. Carlyle Indians/Lady Indians

The Centralia Orphans will take on the Carlyle Indians/Lady Indians in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Centralia is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup on Thursday with ease, bagging a 62-19 victory over Cahokia. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Meanwhile, Carlyle entered their tilt with Sparta on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Bulldogs 71-19. With the Indians/Lady Indians ahead 46-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

The victory got Carlyle back to even at 4-4. As for Centralia, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-5.

Centralia suffered a grim 58-38 defeat to Carlyle in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Thankfully for the Orphans, Sophia Hoffmann (who went 10-for-14 to rack up 27 points in addition to six boards and three steals) won't be suiting up this time.
