Softball Recap: Sumner Wins Going Away Against Olympia

Sumner owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Olympia Bears. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Spartans have posted against the Bears since April 18, 2019.

Sumner got a massive performance out of Naya Alastra, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Makenna Lysene was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Alastra wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Sumner kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Sumner's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Olympia, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Sumner is set to take on their familiar foe Emerald Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 2.8, the Jaguars 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Olympia will square off against rival Curtis at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
