Softball Recap: South Plantation Beats Cooper City for Their Fourth Straight Win

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but South Plantation ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 18-17 victory over the Cooper City Cowboys. Winning may never get old, but the Paladins sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

South Plantation got a massive performance out of Samantha O'Steen, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave O'Steen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kylee Reaves, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI.

South Plantation was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .490. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in nine consecutive games.

South Plantation's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-10. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Cooper City, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-15.

Looking ahead, South Plantation will head out on the road to face off against American Heritage at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Paladins' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cooper City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pompano Beach at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
