Vermillion is 8-2 against Elk Point-Jefferson since January of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Vermillion Tanagers will square off against the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies at 7:45 p.m.

Vermillion is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Dakota's top teams: Lennox, who was ranked tenth at the time (Vermillion was ranked 11th). Vermillion came up short against Lennox on Thursday, falling 58-36. The match marked the Tanagers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Elk Point-Jefferson hadn't done well against Ponca recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Elk Point-Jefferson secured a 55-50 W over Ponca.

Vermillion moved to 7-2 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak. As for Elk Point-Jefferson, their win bumped their record up to 4-7.

Vermillion beat Elk Point-Jefferson 77-70 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vermillion since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
