Football Recap: Valley Christian Piles Up the Points Against ALA - Ironwood

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Valley Christian on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the ALA - Ironwood Warriors out of the water with a 49-20 final score. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Trojans had established a 28-point advantage.

Austin Schuder was his usual excellent self, throwing for 354 yards and seven TDs while picking up 16.1 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 51 yards on only seven carries. Those seven passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Caleb Goldman was another key player, gaining 120 total yards and a touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why ALA - Ironwood lost, don't look at Shawn Hinchcliff. Despite the final result, he rushed for 167 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 carries. Hinchcliff really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.

The win (which was Valley Christian's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.8 points over those games. As for ALA - Ironwood, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Coming up, Valley Christian will welcome Sabino at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 930 yards in their previous games. ALA - Ironwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
