Flag Football Recap: Brooke Hunter and Jada Mcconnell-Ashe Pace George Washington Defense

George Washington had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 5-4 to make it four. They received a blow as they fell 15-0 to the Manual Thunderbolts. Having soared to a lofty 44 points in the game before, the Patriots' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Even if they lost, George Washington's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Brooke Hunter and Jada McConnell-Ashe, who racked up all four sacks between them. McConnell-Ashe is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: she's made at least five every time she's taken the field this season.

As for Manual, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.6 points over those games.

Manual found their leader in sophomore Caylei Walker, who rushed for 109 yards and one score on only 11 carries, and also threw for 115 yards and one touchdown. Walker also deserves a shoutout for her performance on D, making three total tackles and defending two passes.

George Washington didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 23-6 defeat against Monarch on the 27th. As for Manual, they have also already played their next matchup, a 28-6 loss against Denver North on the 30th.
