It's playoff time, and Wheaton Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over the Fenton Bison on Tuesday. Considering the Warriors' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Ruth Johanik was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Vivian Brummel, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Wheaton Academy's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Fenton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-20.
As of now, neither Wheaton Academy nor the Bison have any future games scheduled.
