Baseball Game Preview: Monroe Vikings vs. Maywood CES Wolfpack

The Monroe Vikings will challenge the Maywood CES Wolfpack at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Monroe is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Torres get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since April 2nd.

Meanwhile, Maywood CES entered their tilt with Fremont on Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Pathfinders. The result was nothing new for the Wolfpack, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Andrew Moran looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

Monroe's victory bumped their record up to 15-10. As for Maywood CES, their win bumped their record up to 15-8.

Monroe came out on top in a nail-biter against Maywood CES in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
