Baseball Recap: Chaparral Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

Chaparral hadn't done well against Hamilton recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Chaparral Firebirds came out on top against the Hamilton Huskies by a score of 4-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). This was a revenge game for the Firebirds: when they faced off against the Huskies two weeks ago, they had to take a 5-2 defeat.

Truman Parker looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Mesa, who fired off two home runs and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high.

Chaparral has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch. Hamilton's loss dropped their record down to 6-2.

Looking ahead, Chaparral will square off against Red Mountain at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The last four games Chaparral has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Hamilton, they will take on Brophy College Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Hamilton's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Brophy College Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
