Basketball Recap: Magnolia West Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

Alief Taylor came into Saturday's contest looking for another win against Magnolia West, but Jayden Zinn wouldn't allow it. The Magnolia West Mustangs came out on top against the Alief Taylor Lions by a score of 45-37 on Saturday thanks in part to Zinn, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (five).

Alief Taylor lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ja'Von Wade, who posted five points and six steals. Another player making a difference was Brent Johnson, who had six points and three steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Magnolia West and bumps their season record up to 4-12. As for Alief Taylor, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Magnolia West didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-43 loss against Kingwood Park on the 10th. As for Alief Taylor, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-53 defeat against Fort Bend Hightower on the 10th.
