Baseball Recap: East Valley Athletes for Christ Takes a Loss

East Valley Athletes for Christ and Mission Heights Prep squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but East Valley Athletes for Christ had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Phantoms by a score of 8-6. That makes it the first time this season the Eagles have let down their home crowd.

Cameron Marshall was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Louis Livacari made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was David Glasscock, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

East Valley Athletes for Christ's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3-1. As for Mission Heights Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4-2 record this season.

East Valley Athletes for Christ does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mission Heights Prep, they will take on Heritage Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Phantoms' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Heroes have averaged an impressive 12.8 runs per game this season.
