Football Recap: Leominster Falls Short Against Ranked Wachusett Regional

Leominster faced Wachusett Regional in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Mountaineers by a score of 45-42. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mountaineers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Leominster had strong showings from Osiris Lopez, who threw for 200 yards and five touchdowns, and Jayden Wilbon, who picked up 87 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Ryan Ricker got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Leominster didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ricker and Elijah Rivera. Ricker got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Leominster's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Wachusett Regional, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Looking ahead, Leominster will head out on the road to challenge Algonquin Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils will be up against the Titans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.25 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Wachusett Regional, they will welcome Milton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
