Basketball Recap: Morgan Takes a Loss

Morgan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Coshocton Redskins, falling 67-46. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 575th, while the Redskins are ranked 84th).

When it comes to explaining why Morgan lost, don't look at Luke Coleman. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brylee Shannon, who went 5 of 8 en route to 10 points.

Even though they lost, Morgan was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Coshocton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Colton Conkle, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 20 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Conkle's evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Blayden Workman, who went 6 of 12 en route to 17 points.

Morgan's record now sits at 3-10. As for Coshocton, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Morgan has already played their next contest, a 70-36 defeat against Maysville on the 25th. As for Coshocton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 86-73 victory against Shenandoah on the 25th.
