Softball Recap: Lafayette Beats Riverdale for Their Third Straight Win

It's playoff time, and Lafayette had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Riverdale Rebels with a sharp 20-4 victory on Saturday. Considering the Lions have won 15 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Lafayette got a massive performance out of Heidi Ewing, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave Ewing a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caroline Terro, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.

Lafayette always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .828. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win (which was Lafayette's third in a row) raised their record to 16-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.0 runs over those games. As for Riverdale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.

Lafayette wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 14-3 defeat against Alexandria on the 21st. Riverdale does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
