Preview: Bessemer Academy Rebels vs. Autauga Academy Generals
Bessemer Academy is 2-7 against Autauga Academy since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bessemer Academy Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the Autauga Academy Generals at 7:00 p.m. Bessemer Academy will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last.
Last Thursday, everything went Bessemer Academy's way against Cornerstone Christian as Bessemer Academy made off with a 45-22 victory. The victory was all the more spectacular given Bessemer Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while Cornerstone Christian is ranked sixth).
Tyseon Smith was the offensive standout of the contest as he picked up 136 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a rushing score. Another player making a difference was Luke Turner, who threw for 170 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes.
Meanwhile, Autauga Academy can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They blew past Macon-East Montgomery Academy 31-7. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Autauga Academy just coasted through the last quarter.
Bessemer Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Autauga Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Bessemer Academy suffered a grim 28-5 defeat to Autauga Academy when the teams last played back in September. Can Bessemer Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
