Football Game Preview: Mountain View Lobos vs. Irvin Rockets

The Mountain View Lobos are taking a road trip to challenge the Irvin Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain View is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

On Friday, Mountain View came up short against Clint and fell 28-20.

Meanwhile, the third road matchup was the charm for Irvin, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 54-8 win over San Elizario. The Rockets' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

A big part of Irvin's victory came down to the chemistry between Dallas Medina and his top target Michael Salazar. Medina threw for 194 yards and three TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes while Salazar picked up 147 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Salazar really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 71 yards. Joseph Davila handled things on the ground, rushing for 89 yards.

Irvin was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 255 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Elizario only rushed for 154.

Irvin picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Mountain View, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Mountain View came up short against Irvin in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 27-21. Can the Lobos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
