Baseball Game Preview: Mountain View Mavericks vs. Post Falls Trojans

The Mountain View Mavericks will challenge the Post Falls Trojans at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The timing isn't great for Mountain View: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Post Falls has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road.

Mountain View is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Ridgevue, who was ranked 17th at the time (Mountain View was ranked third). The Mavericks fell just short of the Warhawks by a score of 7-5 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mavericks have suffered since May 9, 2025.

Deegan Gonzalez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Preston Flournoy was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Cooper Schneidt, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Ridgevue hit Post Falls with a four-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Trojans took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warhawks.

Marshall Tomlinson made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Mountain View's defeat dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Post Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
