Recap: Florence Gophers vs. Odyssey Institute Minotaur
The Florence Gophers won the last time they faced the Odyssey Institute Minotaur, and things went their way on Friday too. Florence enjoyed a cozy 39-22 victory over Odyssey Institute. The win made it back-to-back wins for Florence.
Leading Florence to victory were Keylee Scarbrough and Aubrey Farmer. Scarbrough scored 13 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 steals, while Farmer scored 7 points along with 17 steals and 5 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of E.C. Turk-Francis, who scored 6 points along with 7 rebounds.
Shelby Hunt and Abby Elledge certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Hunt scored 4 points, while Elledge scored 2 points.
Even though they lost, Odyssey Institute were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Florence only pulled down 30.
The win got Florence back to even at 2-2. As for Odyssey Institute, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Florence will take on Payson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Payson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Monday. As for Odyssey Institute, they will head out on the road to face off against Northwest Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Northwest Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Odyssey Institute in Arizona (Northwest Christian is ranked 82nd, while Odyssey Institute is ranked 212th).
