Midlothian had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They skirted past the Kellam Knights 4-3. The Trojans' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Marlee Gaskell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Erin Fiege, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

Midlothian's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-0. As for Kellam, their defeat ended a 16-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 25-2.

Coming up, Midlothian will square off against Godwin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 1, the Eagles 0.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Kellam does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
