Baseball Recap: Scott County Wins Going Away Against Montgomery County

Scott County's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They blew past the Montgomery County Indians 14-4. The game marked the Cardinals' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Preston Luckett tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Garrett Sparks was a standout: he scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Parker Dotson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Scott County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Scott County's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Montgomery County, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 4-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scott County will take on Lafayette at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Montgomery County, they will challenge Paris at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup will give Montgomery County their first taste of in-conference action this season.
