Basketball Recap: Curwensville Comes Up Short

Curwensville suffered their closest loss since February 5, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Harmony Area Owls by a score of 62-59. The Golden Tide's defeat continues a trend for the team, making it six in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Curwensville lost, don't look at Davis Fleming. Despite the final result, he went 9 of 17 to rack up 25 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. That was a full 42.4% of Curwensville's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Breck Finn, who had nine points.

Even though they lost, Curwensville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Harmony Area's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brady Hagens, who earned 21 points and five assists. Those 21 points gave Hagens a new career-high. Hunter Pearce was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Curwensville's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Harmony Area, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-18.
